The Green Turtle is a staple in Amelia Island entertainment, and the popular music venue is gearing up for a pre-Shrimp Festival celebration beginning Saturday, April 27. In anticipation of the more than 100,000 people expected to head to Shrimp Fest, The Green Turtle kicks off the weekend before the festival with their first ever Turtle Jam Mini Fest. Melody Trucks and her band will headline this event. Trucks is part of the Trucks family music dynasty.
In life there are those quirky moments you remember simply because they’re quirky. I was traveling to Fernandina Beach with Rebecca. She was playing tunes with Wes Goode at The Green Turtle. I was doing a bit of work while she drove when I saw the truck. Right in front of us. The back had a slogan: “best coffee on the interstate.” I realized I was drinking the same kind of coffee the truck was advertising.
Surfing for good music is a daily duty for Indie Art South, and today I wasn’t disappointed. I found a great song by a duo from coastal South Carolina. Sweet Sweet will head to North Florida this weekend for a gig at a venue I’m fond of because I’ve had good times there listening to my daughters perform. The venue, The Green Turtle, is known for quality music and fun times. So what’s so special about Sweet Sweet?
