Just in time for the official day of love, a warning for WordPress sites

laptop photo indie art southToday is officially a day of love in the US, and most of us have valentines on our minds. But not everyone. A warning has been published by a Web security site about one of the most popular blog formats in the country, WordPress.

As is often the case, the issue has to do with a plugin, the GDPR Cookie Consent plugin. Now if you run a website, privacy issues and warnings come with the turf. Most of these requirements didn’t used to be there, but as the Web has grown so have the complications and number of exploiters.

The fix for the plugin is an update.

The warning came from the IT Security Guru website, a great resource for anyone blogging or maintaining a site.

Another site that offers very useful information is Mozilla’s Web Security.

If you need updates, don’t put them off.

Otherwise, Happy Valentine’s Day. The world can always use more love.
