On Saturday, September 28, the Clay County Board of Commissioners will host a free family fun day as one way to honor military veterans. Activities kick off at 9 AM at Moosehaven (1701 Park Avenue; Orange Park).

If you’re a veteran seeking information about TriCare, or if you’re in search of a job in the civilian sector, there will be resources like the mini jobs fair to help you on these and other matters. The event also includes a pet adoption, military museum displays, and food trucks.

Children have much to choose from in the Free Kid Zone, such as face painting, a petting zoo, and a climbing wall. The military museum displays will be of interest to both children and adults.

Live entertainment will run throughout the event. Among the performers are The Sahara Silk Dance Ensemble, Total Strangers Band, and The Crazy Daysies. Guest speakers will also talk about topics of interest. A special performance by The Navy Band Southeast will be a highlight of the day.

Vendors at the event will be focused on helping veterans. Event organizers described vendors:

“All vendors for this event will be resource vendors providing information regarding benefits, claims, education, and financial assistance.”

This event honors veterans for serving our country, and it’s a great opportunity to come out and get information for yourself or a loved one. Or just bring the children out for a free family fun day! The event concludes at 3 PM.

My family is going, so come over and say hello if you see us. It looks like our weather will be perfect.
