Looking for fun as the weekend opens? North Florida has you covered. From the beaches to Fruit Cove, there are plenty of options for leisure as Friday rolls in to deliver most of us from work for a day or two.

Friday, August 2, 1904 Music Hall in downtown Jacksonville is set for a big night featuring Issues, Young Ghosts, Puzzles To Pieces, and Adversaries.

Over in Ponte Vedra Beach, Oleta Riggs provides tunes at LuLu’s Waterfront Grille on Saturday, August 3. Oleta’s voice is a great match for taking in some tunes while dining at LuLu’s.

North of Jacksonville in Fernandina Beach, Josh McGowan lights up the night at Down Under on Sunday, August 4. McGowan heads to J’s Tavern in St. Mary’s (GA) on Friday, August 2. I couldn’t locate a music page for McGowan, but if you’d like to follow his music, request a ‘Friend’ connection at Facebook. I can personally attest there is no more entertaining musician than McGowan–anywhere on the planet.

In Fruit Cove, Love Monkey returns to Iggy’s Grill and Bar on Friday, August 2. If you like to dance, this is definitely an option.

For a much needed humor break in these trying times, check out the LOL Jax Film Festival opening on Saturday, August 3 and concluding on Sunday, August 4 at MOSH Bryan Gooding Planetarium located on the South Bank of the St. John’s River in downtown Jacksonville.

Besides all these options for fun, there’s live music all over North Florida every single night. This will be an easy weekend for our crew because the Daysies are doing some chill time except for Rebecca’s solo gig at ECHO Bar at the King and Prince Resort in St. Simons Island, GA on Saturday, August 3.

Do you have a favorite band, or play in a band in this area? Send us your events and we’ll try to include them in our weekend recommendations. Otherwise, stay safe and have fun as we head into August and back to school in the First Coast City.
