Posting new content has been impossible this week, and I’ll likely not be able to post again until next week.
I’m taking a brief vacation for a very good reason.
Our daughter is getting married. At our house. The wedding is small—around 50 guests or so. As mom of the bride, I am focused right now on things like decorating, the ceremony, feeding our guests, and trying to figure out who drinks what beer or wine.
We have people coming from out of state and in-state. We had to keep our guest list to immediate family and friends because the only request our daughter made for this wedding was that we have it here at the house. It was here that our family was able to come back together after the turmoil of 9/11 (the first one). We had planned to move here to join my husband who was already working here fulltime. The 2001 attacks put a serious dent in the real estate market, so it took a little longer for us to sell our home before moving to Florida.
Now that I think of it, Rebecca did make one more request—a football theme. We compromised by agreeing to keep the inside ceremony fairly formal and the outside reception a football-themed atmosphere.

The big event is this weekend, following a chain of events beginning with the engagement party this past spring and winding around to the bridesmaids’ luncheon yesterday. With bachelor and bachelorette parties and the wedding shower behind us, we’re focusing on the rehearsal and the wedding.
Rebecca will be off for a week, and then she’ll hit the Daysie trail again. Jen will continue to perform as we anticipate the birth of a baby boy in March. Rebecca will also be doing duo gigs with Wes Goode.
See you all next week! I’ll have a writeup and I’m thinking about also reprinting the writeup I did after Jen’s wedding.
