Imagine losing your husband, and then having to deal with cancer yourself. I’ve watched families go through crises like this, and sometimes, the challenges can seem overwhelming. St. Mary’s (GA) is a tightly knit community, and local restaurant Wee Pub South is going all out to help a woman who has a lot on her plate right now.

On Saturday, Sept. 8, the pub will host a fundraiser.

Even if you have resources, dealing with the loss of a mate and dealing with your own disease is enough to challenge anyone. Wee Pub South has put together a great event to benefit Ms. Stacy Cribbs.

On the Wee Pub South event page, there’s an overview:

“Stacy Cribbs lost her husband, Corey, last year and was recently diagnosed with stage four metastatic breast and bone cancer. She has a daughter, Amber, and has lived in St. Mary’s her entire life. She is an amazing friend and enriches the lives of everyone she knows. Please come and show your support!”

There are many great raffle prizes donated by local businesses—a $50 gift card for jewelry and another for video games, a family session donated by a photographer, art works, a campfire kit with all kinds of goodies, a Winn Dixie grocery gift card, and many more. There will be a cornhole tournament, bounce house, and face painting at this kid-friendly event,  and craftsmen and other vendors will also have their wares available.

The Crazy Daysies full band will perform after a show by a solo artist [See update below] whose name I am trying to track down. Rebecca (front person for the Daysies) said,

“We are excited to be part of an event in St. Mary’s to help someone so important to the community. I personally have experienced medical issues during my early and teen years, and I know how difficult it can be to deal with it. Knowing just one person is there for you means the world. This is our way of saying, ‘We’re all here for you, Stacy’.”

Rebecca and Jennifer have met so many great people when they perform at Wee Pub. St., and so have I when I’ve been able to go up there and hear them and enjoy the great food and drinks the pub serves.

The event begins at 3 p.m. Wee Pub South in St. Mary’s is located at 2603 Osborne Rd. (Suite P).

Update Sept. 6, 2018: The solo artist who will perform before the full band show is Rex Carter who lives in St. Mary’s. Among influences on his music is one of my favorites: 70s classic rock.
