The Crazy Daysies are in perpetual motion these days, and it’s hard sometimes even for me to keep up. They peppered me with questions when they were young. Now it’s me bugging them about venues, gig times, and paperwork. Summer will be busy, and I’ve already advised them to stock up on bug repellant for outdoor gigs in the South. It’s not just the music that has them hopping though.
The Daysies will be in our neck of the woods, sort of, this Friday evening, June 15, from 9:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m. with a duo show on the inside stage at Boondocks Grill and Bar [2808 Henley Rd, Green Cove Springs FL, 32043]. This is the first time they’ve played this venue, so come on out and enjoy the music and food. On Sunday, June 17, Rebecca does a solo show for Wee Pub South’s Sunday Brunch [2603 Osborne Road, Suite P., St. Mary’s, GA 31558] from 12-3 p.m. I can personally vouch for the super Bloody Mary there.
Meanwhile, South Florida Country Music just featured a sneak peek at the Daysies’ latest recording, “Living Room Blues and Faith.” It’s a song about personal faith, and is one of my favorites. The full release will happen soon.
The girls will round out June with performances at Marion Street Bistro and Brew House [281 N Marion Ave, Lake City, Florida 32055] on Thursday, June 21 from 7-10 p.m. Then it’s back to Jacksonville on Friday, June 22 with the duo at Seven Bridges Grille and Brewery [9735 Gate Parkway North, Jacksonville, Florida 32216] from 8 p.m.-midnight. The weekend winds up with Rebecca doing a solo show at Mellow Mushroom [1800 Town Center Blvd, Fleming Island, Florida 32003] on Saturday, June 23 from 8:30-11:30 p.m.
Closing out June, the duo will perform at the Shrimp Boil at Marché Burette at Amelia Island Plantation [39 Beach Lagoon Road, Amelia Island, Florida 32034] on Friday, June 29 from 5:30-8:30 p.m.
We’ve been preoccupied with lots more than music. As Rebecca told supporters via Facebook, she and Joshua Knight are finally tying the knot. The wedding is scheduled for November. It will be small and intimate, in accordance with their wishes. In keeping with this couple’s enthusiasm for a certain sport, the wedding and reception will be football themed. We’re working on that, and to my surprise, that theme is not as uncommon as you’d think. A friend of mine sent me photos of football centerpieces, guest gifts, table layouts and such. Now if we can just come up with something resembling a goal post, we’ll be well on our way to getting them over the finish line.
In other news, keep your fingers crossed. Several of the Daysies’ songs are on shortlists, under consideration for use in films. We will see what happens with this, and like I always tell them, hope for the best and anticipate the worst. Whatever does happen, we’ll just keep on plugging away. Next on the horizon is recording a new song Jennifer wrote, and Rebecca is polishing one to record right after that.
Check out the Daysies’ website and Facebook page to keep up with them. Also subscribe to their YouTube channel and see new songs as videos are posted. As Band Mom, sometimes we get so busy that’s where I have to go to catch up with them too. You can also visit the Crazy Daysies’ Boutique, with all purchases helping cover band costs and a fundraiser each year for a worthy cause, usually one protecting animals. Access their blog via the Boutique to read about adventures in music.
As summer looms, give “Stick a Lime in It” (video posted above) a listen. It’s the perfect leisure time song and it always puts a smile on my face.
