Musical duo SmithField is in Florida this week, and these up and comers in country music have gone the extra mile to get their tunes out. Trey and Jennifer Smithfield undertook a radio tour amid live performances across the country.
The Texas duo’s single “Hey, Whiskey,” got radio play in March and, according to their official Facebook page, has surpassed more than 1 million streams on Spotify. The duo formed in 2011. In 2017 they performed at the iconic Bluebird in Nashville for the first time.
SmithField currently lists their record label status as “independent.”
Thus far, SmithField has hit more than 70 radio stations to perform their single live. Nash Country Daily said, “One of the best ways for artists to get their songs in the hands—and ears—of radio program directors is to pack their bags and hit the road for a radio tour.”
The duo kept a photo journal of their travels, and it’s published at Nash Country Daily.
SmithField performs in my home state of Florida on Friday, May 11, at White Buffalo Saloon in Sarasota, and on Saturday, May 12, at Steinbrenner Field in Tampa.
They still plan to hit 70 more radio stations.
Hat tip to this hard-working duo intent on getting their music into the hands of fans.
In late April SmithField posted on their Twitter page:
“Taking “Hey Whiskey” to country Radio was such a big step and we’re in such good hands! Thanks so much to @Z104Country @kticountry @wpor1019 @951NashColorado @999gatorcountry @FM100KTEX for believing in our song and adding it to your playlist this week! We love y’all so much!”
Radio play is probably the most challenging goal any indie artist can undertake. Looks like SmithField met it. The radio tour was a great promotional strategy.
