When the Bella Donna Project took the stage at 1904 Music Hall in downtown Jacksonville on Friday, some things were apparent immediately.
It was easy to forget you weren’t hearing Stevie Nicks on the stage. That’s how tight the Bella Donna Project is, and the vocals are not only powerful, but authentic. Few bands reach the level of professionalism these musicians have attained.
It was also easy to appreciate the incredible sound system 1904 Music Hall has, and they have a sound man whose expertise is most welcome.
If you’re looking for a real music venue, 1904 is a gem right in the heart of downtown. I didn’t even know it was there until the Crazy Daysies told me they were opening for Bella Donna.
If you miss Freebird, fret no more. 1904 Music Hall certainly fills the gap left by Freebird’s departure.
The emphasis here is on listening, dancing, and engaging with music in general. 1904 Music Hall lists upcoming concerts, and you can choose from a variety of genres.
Bella Donna delivered a tribute to Stevie Nicks that would make the ‘goddess of rock’ proud. The band is big, and so is the sound. I think everyone who came out left satisfied.
Judging the enthusiasm of the crowd, I’d say both bands had a great night.
The Crazy Daysies opened, and they chose to perform mostly originals with a few covers thrown in for good measure.
Another plus for 1904 Music Hall is the staff. I never met friendlier people, and that’s in keeping with what musicians who’ve played there say on Facebook.
1904 Music Hall is a plus for music enthusiasts and for downtown Jax. ‘Like’ the 1904 Music Hall page on Facebook and see what bands are coming up. There’s sure to be one to please you.
