Florida is one of the nation’s largest states and we’re a popular tourist destination, so it’s no surprise we have a lot of music going on. Add Island Hopper Fest to the mix of great music events in the Sunshine State.
This is only the fourth year for the festival, but it looks like it will have a long shelf life. Performers will be featured at venues including Captiva Island, Downtown Fort Myers, and Fort Myers Beach September 22-October 1.
There’s a contest for aspiring songwriter-performers who can vie for a chance to perform.
There’re goodies in the win besides the performance. The winner also gets two round trip tickets and hotel accommodations, a ticket to a songwriter workshop, and 4 hours of recording time at a studio. Complete details are on the Ft. Myers-Sanibel Facebook page. The deadline to enter is August 30. Be sure to read the rules so your hard work isn’t for nothing.
Organizers say the festival will also include singer-songwriters who’ve “penned No. 1 hits for such artists as Jake Owen, George Strait, Garth Brooks, Brad Paisley, Celine Dion, and Ariana Grande.” Singer Rae Lynn will perform on Oct. 1.
More than 100 performances will be given; most of them are free admission.
