Florida performer hopes to help fellow musician who was injured

Samuel McDonald, Florida musician, is donating tips to help a fellow performer who injured his hand.

Samuel McDonald, guitarist and vocalist who hails from the Fernandina Beach (FL) music community, hopes to help a fellow performer who injured his hand.

After musician Josh McGowan hurt his hand, seriously affecting his guitar playing temporarily, McDonald decided to try to help him out. McGowan lives in Tifton (GA), but he is widely known in Florida via the many venues he’s played at.

McDonald placed a notice on his Facebook page:

“Most all of you know my brother Josh McGowan. Well due to a hand injury he’s unable to play and make money for a while. So the tips that I make the next two days from my shows I’m just going to give to him to help out. I’m playing The Palace Saloon from 9-1 tonight (Tuesday) and at The Green Turtle Tavern Wednesday night [July 26] from 6:30-10:30…I would appreciate it if you guys can come by and show some love and throw a little something his way. If you can spare it I know it would be much appreciated. Let’s make it happen, thank you all.”

McDonald’s performance tonight at the Palace Saloon takes place at a venue where I once read for a book festival. I remember the acoustics were very nice. Then he’s at one of my favorite music stops on Wednesday in Fernandina Beach, at The Green Turtle.

If you can make it over to the Saloon tonight or the Turtle on Wednesday, and can spare a few bucks for the tip jar to help an injured musician, the arts gods will bless you. Self-employed musicians like these ‘brothers’ in the arts already walk a tight rope. When they can’t play, they can’t earn.
